lifestyle
India’s design scene is in the midst of a powerful renaissance. Long celebrated for its artisanal heritage and richly layered cultural narratives, the country is now stepping into the global spotlight as a leader in contemporary luxury interiors. A new generation of visionary Indian designers is reinterpreting the language of craftsmanship, identity, and modern living, creating homes, hotels, and cultural spaces that speak eloquently to India’s past while defining its global future.
What distinguishes these studios is an effortless dialogue between tradition and innovation. Centuries-old handcraft techniques are being reimagined through advanced technologies, local natural materials are paired with refined international influences, and timeless stories of place are expressed through a cosmopolitan design vocabulary. The result is a body of work that feels soulful yet sophisticated, culturally rooted yet globally resonant, positioning India as a new epicentre of luxury design.
In this feature, we spotlight seven of the most influential and forward-thinking designers in India today. Each brings a distinct perspective, whether through bold material experimentation, poetic storytelling, or a commitment to sustainable craft, together redefining what it means to create beauty, purpose, and elegance on a world stage.
