The most important thing you’ve designed to date?

carla barton

As an interior designer in Sydney, I’ve worked on a range of residential interior spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and New York. But for me, the current and future projects are always the most important—there’s always new inspiration and opportunities to define what timeless design means with every project.

A project you are working on now:

At our residential interior design company, we’re currently working on a range of projects—a contemporary four-storey home in Rose Bay, a traditional three-storey residence in Vaucluse, and a boat-inspired guest house in Balmain East. Each project allows us to explore new materials, experiment with interior spaces, and bring timeless design interiors to life in different ways.

My husband and I enjoy taking our Italian Greyhound for long walks when we aren’t working.

Favourite material to work with:

Natural stone is my favourite material to work with. It’s the perfect foundation for creating timeless design interiors—classic, enduring, and versatile across different interior spaces.

What is your favourite hotel in the world?

carla Barton

We recently stayed in this gorgeous B&B on the Amalfi coast in the south of Italy for our Honeymoon. All the fruit and honey served for breakfast was freshly picked from their farm and prepared that morning, coupled with the fabulous views of Sorrento from the top of the hill… It was a little hidden gem I can’t wait to go back to! Agriresrot Villa Edera.
