High Sense Studio on Collaborative Design, Sustainability & Innovation
people • DESIGNERS
Founded in Dubai by architect and designer Nourhan Rabah, High Sense Studio is a multidisciplinary design practice at the forefront of contemporary craftsmanship. Renowned for creating furniture, collectible objects, and immersive spatial experiences, the studio explores the intersection of parametric design, robotic fabrication, and modular adaptability.
Rabah’s philosophy is rooted in the idea that design should not only be seen but deeply felt. Each creation blends precision geometry with organic fluidity, balancing technological innovation with a human, emotional dimension. The result is work that defies boundaries, simultaneously art and craft, structure and sensation.

How do you approach collaborative design, and in what ways do collaborations influence the final outcome?
High Sense Studio
I turn intuitive design ideas into reality by collaborating with material and fabrication experts, where design vision meets technical mastery. My process always starts with research that develops into a parametric concept. Working with fabricators and specialists allows me to adapt these ideas into tangible outcomes. Collaboration enriches the final product, combining my creative direction with their expertise in texture, material, and technology to achieve results that would not be possible alone.

How do you integrate sustainability and innovation into your projects without compromising aesthetics?
High Sense Studio
I approach sustainability by thinking unconventionally. Instead of starting with a material or style, I define the space through functional parameters. From there, I design using sustainable materials and advanced fabrication technologies. This method allows High Sense Studio to deliver projects that are both visually distinctive and environmentally conscious.

What was the moment you decided to found High Sense Studio?
High Sense Studio
The turning point came in April 2023, when I realised that if I didn’t take the leap, I would regret it for life. After years of research, experimentation, and professional experience, I felt an urgency to create a platform that truly reflected my design philosophy. By June 2024, I officially launched High Sense Studio in Dubai, with a clear mission: to explore the future of high-end fabrication, parametric experimentation, and human-centred design. Founding the studio was not just a career move but a personal commitment to innovation, to pushing the boundaries of what design can be, and to shaping a practice where technology and craftsmanship coexist seamlessly.

What led you to explore these specific design techniques and approaches?
High Sense Studio
I’ve always been drawn to experimental design. Frei Otto’s soap-film experiments showed me how complex beauty can emerge from simple phenomena, while architects like Norman Foster and Zaha Hadid inspired me to test these ideas at new scales. Today, I reinterpret those principles with parametric tools and digital fabrication, applying them to interiors, architecture, and even urban design — where structure meets fluidity, and technology meets craft.

How do you make technology converse with the human and sensory side of your projects?
High Sense Studio
I bridge digital fabrication and sensory design through fluid, organic geometries and carefully refined colour palettes. These forms invite both visual and tactile interaction, while subtle tonal variations heighten the experience. For me, technology is not in opposition to intuition — it’s a tool to create spaces and objects that feel both innovative and deeply human.

How do you find the balance between aesthetics and functionality in your work?
High Sense Studio
For me, aesthetics and functionality are inseparable. Every design begins as a concept but is tested through material experimentation, joints, and mechanisms. This process ensures each piece is not only visually striking, but also highly functional and crafted to the highest standards of quality.

How was the Interfered Table born, and what did you want to communicate through this design?
High Sense Studio
The Interfered Table was conceived as an experiment in form, a way to challenge conventional furniture design. By working with circles at different scales and allowing their overlaps to dictate the structure, the table became a dynamic, unconventional piece — one that breaks away from rigid symmetry and instead celebrates movement, fluidity, and surprise.

Do you have a creative ritual or habit that helps you get into the flow?
High Sense Studio
Travel and yoga are the anchors of my creative process. Every destination feels like a living book of inspiration, offering new textures, forms, and ideas. Daily Ashtanga yoga clears my mind and creates space for intuition, helping me approach design with focus and creativity.

If you could have dinner with your design hero, who would it be and what would you ask them?
High Sense Studio
I’d love to meet Norman Foster, Thomas Heatherwick, and Karim Rashid.
From Foster, I’d want to understand the essence of timeless simplicity; from Heatherwick, his fearless approach to creativity and invention; and from Rashid, the deeper philosophy behind his bold and unconventional design movement.

When you enter a space, what is the first detail or material that catches your attention?
High Sense Studio
For me, it’s always the flooring. Its texture, pattern, and materiality instantly anchor my first impression of a space, setting the tone for atmosphere and experience.

What is your dream destination to live or work on a project?
High Sense Studio
Copenhagen is my dream city — its dedication to sustainability, design innovation, and quality of life makes it an inspiring place to create. I also aspire to collaborate with global brands like CELINE, design adaptive buildings, and contribute to urban spaces that strengthen the connection between cities and their residents
